June 29, 2014 - Rik Mayall
He said: “I remember being in a pub when we were usually starting out and he was articulate about genocide and how it condemned him and fearful him.” Planer pronounced Mayall used to adore larking about and would put on posh accents for a fun – and get himself into trouble.
He said: “He used to plod about and get punched utterly a lot.
“He would take it to a extreme. One time when he was sanctimonious to be a surly posh southerner someone did take corruption and pushed Rik over on his chair.
“At that indicate I’d have been frightened and pronounced ‘Look, we were usually carrying a laugh’, though Rik carried on. He was sincerely fearless when it came to staying in character.”
Rik and comedy partner Ade Edmonson – Vyvyan in a Young Ones – attended Planer’s marriage final year.
He said: “I was gratified since a dual of them hadn’t been articulate for a while and were chatting divided there.”
He also suggested there had been a devise to reunite The Young Ones.
But he said: “To do The Young Ones in a destiny but Rik would be sad, would be nothing.”
Nigel Planer will be seen shortly in dual new TV comedy series, Cockroaches and Grey Mates.
