The current series of Norwegian Idol is still going on. But we already have a single from one of the participants who exited last month. 16 year old Astrid Smeplass and her self-penned song ‘Shattered’.
She was allowed to perform the song on one of the live shows (don’t worry – it’s a world away from Lucy Spraggan), and since her surprise exit it’s been put out as a single. ‘Shattered’ is a mid-tempo and melodic pop number, with large influences from country music. It sounds like something that American Idol graduate Pia Toscano would have come out with, had her career not been cruelly cut short. It’s super sweet. Not the sort of thing she would have been allowed to release as the winner’s single, and thus it’s probably for the best that she got her early exit.
