CharterCableDeals American Idol Watch: Finale Week ...

Tune-in tonight to American Idol at 8pm ET on FOX, available through Charter Cable!

It all comes down to this. The two-night finale of American Idol begins with the performances on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Central time) and ends with the 2-hour results show Thursday night at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Central) on local Fox television stations. Country singer Kree Harrison, a 22 year-old from Woodville, Texas, will square off against R&B sensation Candice Glover, 23 years-old from St. Helena Island, South Carolina.

The quot;American Idolquot; season 12 final two, fromThe all-female finale already guarantees the show’s long streak of male winners is coming to an end. Harrison enters the contest considered the slight favorite to win. The last female country singer to win American Idol was season 4’s victor, Carrie Underwood, considered by many to be the most successful Idol of all time. Can Harrison match Underwood’s output? If Glover and her powerful voice have anything to say about it, Harrison shouldn’t count her Grammy awards just yet. If Glover wins, she would be the first woman contestant of African-American descent to win since Jordan Sparks won American Idol season 6.

American Idol’s twelfth season has been dominated by negative headlines. The change in judges has been savaged by critics and fans alike. It is widely expected that none of the four judges will return for the thirteenth season of the show. Idol took its toughest hit in April when for the first time it was topped in ratings by its most direct competition, NBC’s The Voice.

Overshadowed in the drama of Season 12 has been the fact the show now hosts two of the stronger finalists in its recent history. Kree and Candice will make an honest contest of it as they fire vocal salvos back and forth in the finale. Harrison won the coin toss and opted to go first. That leaves the final song of the evening to Glover. That decision is generally considered a mistake by the shows fans, who consider the parting shot to be very valuable.

Two may enter this finale. But come Thursday night, only one may leave as the next American Idol. Tune in Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Central) to see who wins.
