WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- Rhode Show host Will Gilbert and "American Idol" finalist Erika Van Pelt will be on hand for this year's Purple Stride event.
The run/walk has been organized to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth-leading cause of cancer death, and it's estimated that more than 45,000 Americans will be diagnosed with the disease this year, and more than 38,000 will die from it.
Registration for Purple Stride begins at 7:30 a.m. at Goddard Memorial Park in Warwick, followed by the opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. and the run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
