When Kree Harrison learned she had made American Idol's first-ever all-female Top 5 last month, the Nashville singer told the Tennessean, "It's going to be so hard every week, whether I go home or somebody else goes home...because we really are close."
After Oliver Springs, Tenn. resident (and frequent Nashville visitor) Janelle Arthur was sent home two weeks ago, Harrison and her fellow contestants got a reprieve from those painful goodbyes on last week's results episode, when host Ryan Seacrest revealed that all four contestants would remain in the competition for another week.
As "Idol" returns with new episodes on Wednesday and Thursday, Harrison's odds are good, as she was one of last week's two top-voted contestants, and those votes will be combined with this week's to determine contestants' standing.
Harrison earned major kudos from viewers - including Merle Haggard - when she covered Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make it Through The Night" a few rounds ago. Since then, she's doubled down her country/blues/rock cred, tackling songs by Susan Tedeschi and The Black Crowes. Tonight, contestants will perform a standard from the "Great American Songbook," in addition to a selection from the past year.
Harrison isn't the only Middle Tennessean hanging in there on reality TV: local viewers can still root for Kellie Pickler ("Dancing with the Stars"), Trace Adkins ("All-Star Celebrity Apprentice") and Jennifer Kuhle ("The Amazing Race").
"American Idol" airs at 7 p.m. Wed. and Thu. on Fox.
