Straight No Chaser have developed a reputation as one of the top dogs in world the of a cappella — and rightfully so.
The 10-piece group have previously remastered iconic hits by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson, Adele, Pharrell, and many others. Now, Straight No Chaser have added Charlie Puth‘s sultry single “Marvin Gaye” to their expansive repertoire, and RyanSeacrest.com has the exclusive premiere.
For their debonair interpretation, the SNC gentlemen give the track an unconventional spin by swapping the original piano arrangements and romantic synths with their impressive beat-boxing and harmonies.
The accompanying music video features the group attempting to court the girl next door, but they later decide to display a total act of bromanship by refusing the final rose for some brews and good times.
SNC’s well-orchestrated cover even received a glowing stamp of approval from Puth, who told RS.com, “It’s still unreal to hear other people covering my music. I’m so honored to have my labelmates in Straight No Chaser put their unique a cappella spin on ‘Marvin Gaye.’ Great job guys!”
SNC, who partnered with Kristen Bell for their viral yuletide hit “Text Me Merry Christmas,” are currently criss-crossing the U.S. for their The New Old Fashioned Tour. You can purchase tickets to see them live here.
