The picture of a Ganpati pandal which turned into a site for the Muslims to offer their Eid prayers is one of the best examples of celebrating true spirit of brotherhood and also Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan. The lovely story and picture of Seva Sangh Ganeshotsav Mandal in Colaba, Mumbai has gone viral on the social media because of the righteous work. In a beautiful scenario, Hindu and Muslims later joined in each other’s festivities. Muslims offered aarti in Ganesh Festival while the Hindus joined in Qawwali programme on the day of Bakri Eid. In the season of festivities, one expects fun and fervor all around. But what was witnessed on the auspicious day of Bakri Eid was pure magical, powerful enough to moist the eyes and make you believe in the saying ‘nothing is above of humankind’. It so happened that on the day of Bakri Eid, there was several Muslims offering their prayers at the Madrassa Rahamatiya Talimul Quran mosque, which is next to the Ganpati pandal. Very soon there was shortage of space as the prayers began since 7.00 am in the morning. The Mandal then let around 1300 Muslim brothers to offer prayers inside the pandal. It did not end with just them praying but later a Qawwali programme was organised in which Hindus participated. Later, Muslims performed aarti. Hate will divide while love has the power to unite us all. This is not a mere saying or a theory that looks good written in a book but an actual thing when applied in our lives has the capacity to bring peace and harmony. Time and again, it is only proved.
