R&B vocalist Fantasia will receive a special honor from the state of North Carolina this month.
The “So Much to Prove” singer will be inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. The event will take place on Thursday, October 16 at the historic Gem Theatre in Kannapolis, NC.
Barrino, a High Point native, received her music break after winning the season three of “American Idol” in 2004. She has one certified platinum and gold album to her credit. Additionally, the “Even Angels” artist has countless top-ten R&B singles and a Grammy Award, among other prestigious awards.
The “American Idol” winner is also a Broadway actor, who has starred in 2007’s “The Color Purple” and “After Midnight,” which ended this year.
Congratulations to Fantasia on her upcoming honor.
Past inductees include Pastor Shirley Caesar, Nina Simone and R&B group Jodeci.
