The Sunday addition of The Washington Post will contain the speech that was to be given by President Barack Obama at the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in Pennsylvania on November 19, 2013.
President Obama (whose idol is President Abraham Lincoln) declined to go to Gettysburg for the event, but instead sent US Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell to represent the administration.
Melvin Snowden (no relation to Edward Snowden) leaked the president’s aborted speech to The Washington Post. Mr. M Snowden was a night janitor at the Health and Human Services (HHS) building in Washington DC, who was fired by HHS Secretary Sebelius for being responsible for the failed rollout of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) website.
Mr. Snowden also serviced the Old Executive Office Building, next to the White House, where he found President Obama’s un-shredded speech crumpled up in a wastebasket. An attached yellow sticky note indicated the speech, written by a Senior White House Advisor, had been rejected by the Gettysburg 150th Anniversary Ceremonial Committee. A copy follows.
Four years and 11 months ago liberals brought forth on this continent a new progressivism, conceived in wealth redistribution, and dedicated to the proposition that some political ideas are more equal than others.
Now we are engaged in a great civilian war of ideas, testing whether a welfare state, so taxed and so regulated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of a previous war where Americans fought and died. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for individual freedom, such that progressivism might live to achieve income equality, gun control, fight climate change and promote radical environmentalism. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
The world will little note, nor long remember crony capitalism, $8 trillion in new debt, increased welfare, the Benghazi Libya embassy attack, the IRS conservative groups persecution scandal, NSA spying on American citizens, the failed ObamaCare rollout, the Fast and Furious gun running Faux Pas and the suppression of journalists not in the tank for liberalism.
It is for us the living, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work of achieving income equality, gun control, fight climate change and promote radical environmentalism. We who are gathered here must highly resolve that progressivism shall have a new birth of liberal tax and spend politicians and that government of the Washington bureaucrats, by the Washington bureaucrats, for the Washington bureaucrats, shall not perish from the earth.
