Looks like Keith Urban won't be the only Nashvillian we'll be seeing on "American Idol." The show narrows this season's singing hopefuls down to a Top 40 this week, and among the 20 male and 20 female contestants is Music City's own Kree Harrison, 22.
Harrison, a native of Woodville, Texas, auditioned for "Idol" in Oklahoma City. This isn't Harrison's first brush with the big-time: starting at age 8, she made several appearances on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and was briefly signed to Lyric Street Records. Urban told USA Today that Harrison was "definitely a contender."
The "Idol" Top 40 also includes four other performers from elsewhere in Tennessee: Paul Jolley of Palmersville, Janelle Arthur of Oliver Springs, Jimmy Smith of Waynesboro and Nick Boddington of Memphis. "American Idol" airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7 p.m. CT on Fox.
